Annabel Tagoe-Bannerman

Annabel Tagoe-Bannerman is a lawyer who has been successfully combining non-executive appointments with high profile executive responsibilities. Annabel is an independent Non-Executive Director of Edinburgh Investment Trust Plc (a FTSE 250 Investment Company in the UK) and is also Annabel an experienced Group General Counsel and Company Secretary with a strong track record of more than 20 years’ experience advising boards and executive teams on major transactions, strategy, governance, risk and complex disputes. 

Until it was recently taken over, Annabel was the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary of Bakkavor Group plc, the FTSE 250 listed producer of freshly prepared food, where she also chaired the Diversity & Inclusion Forum. Annabel was previously at Britvic plc and was formerly General Counsel and a member of the Executive Committee of Ladbrokes Plc.

Annabel is a trusted adviser who brings commercial judgement, constructive challenge and deep experience of regulated, international, and operationally complex B2B and B2C businesses across FMCG, leisure and financial services. 

Annabel is a warm, energetic and inspirational leader who leverages over two decades of legal and governance expertise and is recognised for building trusted relationships, bringing clarity to complex issues and aligning boards, executives and operating teams behind strategic decisions. 

Annabel is passionate about learning , development and mentoring demonstrated by proactively rounding out leadership profile through further education and non-executive oversight roles. Annabel is on the Advisory Board of the Global Counsel Forum (the UK’s leading professional community for Black and underrepresented lawyers). 

Annabel was born in Accra, Ghana and spent her formative years there until she settled in the UK over three decades ago. Annabel is married and has an adult son. She loves reading memoirs, listening to podcasts, cooking and hosting family gatherings.
