With the warmer weather, sunshine and easing of some restrictions I hope you have been able to catch up with family and friends. Perhaps you’ve also taken advantage of the self-organised member “pop-up” events to go for a walk or have a coffee.
We hope your spirit has been lifted by the joy of spring and celebrating festivities including Holi, Passover, Easter and Ramadan with loved ones. As our confidence grows with the roll out of vaccines and the lifting of restrictions we can see light at the end of the tunnel.
Since our last bi-monthly newsletter we had the sad news of the death of one of our Co-founders, Katharine Whitehorn CBE. Our Vice Chair, Susan Young, created a joyful memorial. The anecdotes shared highlighted the importance of women supporting each other, mentoring, acknowledging our worth and deep friendships.
In a year that many will remember for its hardship and loss, at IWF UK we can reflect on how our members paused, pivoted and innovated to strengthen the bonds between us, and to provide additional support and resources.
As the nights draw in and the restrictions on our personal and professional lives due to the pandemic continue, the importance and value of connection, sharing, support and celebration of our achievements are even more important to our well-being and sense of opportunity.
