In addition, Shirley is a member of the Cross Government Commercial Oversight Committee and the MOJ Information Security and Risk Board and recently completed the role of Caretaker Chair for the MOJ Audit and Risk Committee.

Shirley has a career long commitment to equality and women’s empowerment as well helping the procurement profession to be more inclusive, for which she was awarded an OBE in 2020. Current appointments include Trustee and Treasurer UNWomen UK, the United Nations entity for gender equality. Vice Chair of UK Civil Society Women’s Alliance (UKCSWA), representing millions of women and girls across the UK and globally and now Chair of International Women Forum (IWF) UK. In 2008 she co-founded and is the President of Blueprint Club, an organisation created for women leaders in procurement. A former Chair and President of the Global Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Shirley introduced and is Chair of Global CIPS Fellows.

Early career in Yorkshire, one of the first female executives at Tetley’s, leading the finance team, and then as one of the longest serving female senior executives at Computacenter.
