She is on the Boards of Shire plc,Tate and Lyle plc and EXL Inc where she also chairs the remuneration committees on all three boards. She is also a non-executive director on the Court of the University of Aberdeen and is the Chair of the University of Aberdeen Development Trust.
A lawyer by profession she has spent her executive career in senior management roles in Shell, Smiths Group plc and Centrica plc. In the latter two companies she was the Group Human Resources Director and sat on the Executive Committee of both companies. She has been and continues to be a strong advocate of women in senior management and board roles and has lobbied for flexible working and equal pay throughout her career. She mentors several senior executive women to prepare them for Board roles. She is a key speaker on the annual Harvey Nash Asia/Pac Women’s Directorship Programme.
She is passionate about education and in addition to the work that she undertakes at the university she was a key partner in the building of a school in Nodia in Delhi for underprivileged children and retains strong links with the OM Foundation.
She has a LL.B from the University of Aberdeen and a post graduate diploma in Human Resources. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Institute of Management, RSA and the London City and Guilds. She was awarded an OBE in 2000 for services to the engineering industry.
IWF UK Board activities
Anne is on the Membership Committee and plays an active role in recruitment of new members and encouraging senior women to seek roles on boards in both the UK and US. She is a regular attendee at IWF International Conferences.
